I just found that not long ago too. I'd ran right by it over the course of 6 toons in double NG+.
I actually just found a soul item pick up for the first time in New Londo also. The one that's outside the building right before the 4 kings fog.

That's part of what I love so much about this game. Every time I feel like I know everything there is to know I accidentally stumble onto something I've never found before. Even if its just a silly little useless pick up

Yes, I ignored it because I was rushing to get to the Stone Dragon (wanted to join the covenant), I also only have base VIT and on top of that I was cursed, so I just ran past it, I thought I had left it behind when I went to fight a clam when all of a sudden I get killed by its water attack and as my screen fades out with the "YOU DIED" message popping up I see this character literally do a Free Willy over me.
To add to the craziness, the next time I ran past it it kept up with me the entire way and the water beams were coming from either side, I didn't get hit that time, but he sure was trying to get me - from both sides.

That's nuts. I don't think I've ever tried to just run past him before. I never go down there until I have the LV so I can warp out after, and usually by that time I'm strong enough to be able to take him without much of a problem. I'm going to have to try that though. That's a pretty area for it to cruise around.

also if you cut off all of said hyra's heads without depleting its hp it will remain alive but headless until you quit or warp.

Easiest way to deal with Hydra down there is to get inside the log and use arrows on the heads. I did this with Pharis Bow (dex build) and it took no time at all. Just poke your head outside the log for a few shots, then duck back in when it attacks.

From the very first bridge in the catacombs you can roll down to the platform that you can then drop from to get to the Leeroy summon and Priest set ledge. Essentially, you can bypass the entire Catacombs without rotating any of the bridges.
A shame, because I actually like the Catacombs. Why can't I skip Izalith?!

You can get it down to 15 if you speak with the fair lady with the old witch ring equpped, the very first time you approach her in a new cycle.

it's a good thing that i have started taking the witch ring as my starting gift instead of the master key. don't ask me why, it was just a whim that i totally don't regret now

Are you sure it wasn't because you used to be a member? Usually it's 30. If you leave and rejoin, then it's 15.

To be honest, it's not impossible. I read somewhere that talking to her with the ring halved the effect, tried it and it worked. Granted, I had been a chaos servant with that character in the cycle before that one, so it's a possibility. Apologies for any misguidance if that's the case. I really can't tell, only done it with one character.
